Synchronized swimming is the most amazing sport. Imagine the strength of gymnast, the endurance of a long-distance runner, the grace and flexiblity of a dancer, and you've got a synchronized swimmer. Seriously these girls and guys (yes, guys do it too) can jump out of the water without touching the bottom, lift or toss a fellow swimmer up high enough to do a complete flip, coordinate their movements in time to music so up to eight swimmers are doing the same thing simultanously (that's why it's called "synchronized") and hang up side down in the water with their legs completely out of the water making patterns and connecting with their fellow swimmers in ways that are beautiful and require strength and the ability to hold your breath a LONG time.
Can I really do all this? Well, no. I came to the sport late as an adult, but I'm getting better all the time, gaining skills, endurance, muscles, and having fun swimming routines to music with my teammates.
